Brian Ssempijja

Brian Ssempijja is the towering last line of defence for the Nkumba Beach Boys. At 1.88m he dominates his area, and his explosive reflexes in the one-on-one situations that define beach soccer have rescued countless points for the side.

A goalkeeper in the modern mould, Brian is as comfortable with the ball at his feet — or thrown from his hands — as he is between the posts. His pinpoint overarm distribution launches the Beach Boys’ fast breaks, and he has even contributed a handful of long-range goals from open play.

Now the club captain, Ssempijja is known for his vocal leadership and his calm presence in penalty shoot-outs. He balances his football with postgraduate study in Sports Management.
